~Our Faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ~

Why I'm blogging...

Welcome to our lives, our farm, and our family. Here is were we give you a view into our daily walk. I pray that it might encourage you while giving you a real life glance deeper into our lives. May we honor the Lord in all we do and say. My greatest hope is that anything you admire within our family points you right back to the Lord Jesus Christ and our love for HIM.

Are you new here?

Millie’s page has had a large influx of new people following this week. With so many new faces, I often wonder if they take the time to go back to her page and read her story or just see the current post and join us? Sometimes there are sweet and well-meaning comments left letting us know they are praying for Millie’s healing, never realizing that she was healed in heaven almost a year ago. I decided I would take a few minutes tonight to introduce our sweet Millie and her story to anybody new. If you want to join in, please feel free to comment with your favorite memory of our girl, her life, or how she has touched you. I love to hear your input!

Amelia Joy Mount, youngest of 9 children, was born in November 2016. A beautiful and peaceful baby with a joyful countenance, she was always smiling and happy. Everyone in the family adored this little one, but her baby brother who we call “Little Man” was her instant protector and best friend. He was forever by her side, in her space, and making mischief with her.
At 2.5 years old, after months of being unhappy and cranky, Amelia who we affectionately call “Millie” was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. She had a Curie score of only 2, with her metastasized area being in her liver. She was MYCN amplified, but ALK negative. She got every bad thing that accompanies this type of cancer. From the start she did not respond well to 6 rounds of frontline chemo. She was not able to have the surgery to remove her tumor as it never shrank enough. We could not do a stem cell transplant, but instead did DFMO with Immunotherapy for 9 rounds. When it became evident that treatment was not working, we were scheduled for MIBG therapy. Her tumor started to rapidly grow causing us to cancel that procedure and make a last-ditch effort with ICE chemo. The tumor continued to grow a millimeter a day and distend her abdomen horribly. We were told that cancer would take her life and to enjoy her for the remaining time we had. Millie came home to our farm, enjoying her last 3 weeks of life before peacefully passing away on July 8, 2020.
During her treatment she suffered hearing loss, needed a g-tube, had a Broviac central line, and a host of procedures that accompany childhood cancer. She lost all her hair, became very thin, and needed supplemental feeds at night to bring her weight in line with her age. She made many friends on the 10th floor of Children’s Hospital, most who have recovered and are now leading healthy lives, Praise God! More importantly Millie loved her time on our farm. She helped with the animals, assisted daddy in building a tiny house, frequently rode the 4-wheeler with her sister, and loved to swing in the yard. She built forts in her “Make a Wish” playground, enjoyed fishing, and wading in the mud puddles with her boots on. She and mommy shared their daily cup of coffee, while she loved to eat daddy’s eggs and her favorite “Chicken-beef” dinner.
Millie’s life was such a blessing in the 3.5 years she was physically in our family. Her memory continues to be a blessing as we share stories and photos of her life. Her life testimony points to a loving Savior Jesus who walks with her family as we deal with the grief of being separated from our girl. We have full assurance we will see her again someday—in heaven.
Thank you for the time you take to pray for our family. We appreciate the sweet, kind words and the many friendships forged in this trying time. Our hope and prayer as you take the time to read our story is that it points you to our sustainer Jesus. May you know him intimately and fully. May you someday meet our Millie as you too enter the gates of heaven to spend eternity with Jesus…
Blessings sweet friends…
