~Our Faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ~

Why I'm blogging...

Welcome to our lives, our farm, and our family. Here is were we give you a view into our daily walk. I pray that it might encourage you while giving you a real life glance deeper into our lives. May we honor the Lord in all we do and say. My greatest hope is that anything you admire within our family points you right back to the Lord Jesus Christ and our love for HIM.

Little Man is 7

 Dear Friends,

Today is a special day…
Today is Little Man’s 7th Birthday!
Happy…. Happy…. Happy Birthday to him. He does not read FB so he will not truly see this, but we have had special things planned for him since last Sunday. Our kids like to stretch birthdays out the entire week or two.
Last Sunday on Family Game Day, we had a cake and ice cream to celebrate. Big Brother Joshua showed up with chocolate covered doughnuts so Little man forsook eating a piece of cake until the next day just so he would have room for not 1 but 2 doughnuts.
This morning when he woke up, sister Abby had decorated the entire Dining room and left sweet birthday notes scattered around. For breakfast he requested pan A cakes from McDonalds. I can not convince him there in not an ‘A’ in the middle of pancakes. We enjoyed a trip to the thrift store to score some new kid books, then went to Hobby Lobby to pick out decorations for Millie’s grave. We needed bright spring flowers, a butterfly and a “For I know my REDEEMER lives” metal cross to go on the grave. I do not want his birthday to be sad, so I asked if he would like to go and he very emphatically said, “YES!” He tells us often how much he misses her and just wants her back. He realistically understands she is in heaven and he knows that salvation only comes through Christ so he is sure he will see her again…but here on earth she is MISSED!
I let him pick out his own gifts this year. I was not very on the ball about ordering ahead of time, so we jumped on Amazon yesterday and thankfully they will arrive tomorrow. He picked out a Disney ‘Cars’ toy hauler for his Hotwheel cars and a small remote-controlled car. We never spend a lot of money on gifts, but we try to make their birthday special by allowing them to pick their meals etc. We value the time with the children on the day we honor them. You can imagine for the entire year Millie was sick it seemed like we had a birthday every other day. So many gifts arrived for her and the other children. Gratefully, there were enough that they all felt loved on rather than just making her out to be the Queen of Special (although you know she was super special in our hearts!)
Tonight, for dinner he has requested Chicken Alfredo, simple since we use a jar sauce. As his gifts arrive over the next few days he will continue to feel loved and blessed… My blessing was that GOD saw fit to give us a third son after so many years of pink girly girls. We LOVE having 6 daughters but are also grateful the three boys were sprinkled in there too. Little Man has a very bold, commanding personality. He enjoys being in charge of EVERYTHING. It takes a lot to rein in his big ideas sometimes. He also is very creative and has such a loving heart. I am so glad he is part of our family!
Blessings sweet friends…
